Silent Screams

Fake smiles to faceless people

Fake joy with nameless people

And yet a turmoil within,

A plea, an appeal, for help, for freedom

All the pretence, and so much hate for self

We cannot stand looking at our reflection

We despise what we see

The silent screams desire to be let out

It has been held in for too long

Maybe these screams are meant to be held in.

For when the last straw has been drawn,

An implosion will obliterate every deception

Until one can’t hold it in anymore

Until the chaos cannot be controlled

Until there is enough hatred for the false reality

Until there is enough dissatisfaction of play acting

And then the cage can be torn down,

The glass can be shattered

The reflections can be disrupted

The whispering voices can be shut down for good

And when an Inception happens,

And a Rebirth will follow,

And an Emergence will ensue

A new life, a real life.

And we will stare at our reflection

And not look away in hatred of who we have become

Nor feel shame of who we were

But pride that the insidious issues have been weeded out

The long awaited change will happen

And Love will take over,

When they have been let out,

These Silent Screams

I’m always at awe when I read your poems. I love how you started this poem, highlighting the set hatred and then towards the ending, you gave us a light at the end of a tunnel. Self love. We love to see it
