My Garden II

How long? A part of eternity I think

My knees are weary, my heart drained

I pick myself up and look around

Thistles, Deadly Nightshade,

Monkshood, Amaranthus, Hemlock, …

Invaders, Weeds, Poisons of various kinds

With great trepidation, I take in the sight before me

Carefully making my way to get a better view of my creation

Calmness washes over me as it occurs to me that this is

My creation, my garden, a reflection of me

I walk to the Lily of the valley, a grey of me

“In grief, I sunk to the ground…And my grief bore the unthinkable…”

Pride surges within me, I relish it.

I look ahead, and see an expanse,

Dangerous beauty.

Fear once again grips me,

How long has it been?

What have I done?

'What can I say, that will enable you to understand the depth of my sorrow?''

Mary Shelley
